As ever, that Kentish Opera touch was evident, with chamber orchestra under the baton of Robyn Sevastos, our Music Director, and professional soloists, accompanied by the acclaimed Kentish Opera chorus. The production was directed by Stephen Antony Brown and costumes were designed by Carol Stevenson.

Our soloists for the concert were:

Soprano - Stefanie Read
Soprano - Lexie Wisniewska
Mezzo - Angharad Lyddon
Tenor - Stephen Brown
Baritone - Giles Davies

Stefanie, Lexie, Stephen and Giles are all well known to us, with Stefanie playing Rosalinde and Lexie playing Ida in last Spring's production of Die Fledermaus. Stephen is our producer as well as playing Colonel Fairfax in our recent production of The Yeomen of the Guard. Giles has played Jack Pont in Yeomen and the King of Egypt in our recent Aida. We welcome Welsh Mezzo Soprano Angharad Lyddon who is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and represented Wales in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition 2019.

The NODA Review by Gordon Harris:

Group: Kentish Opera

Show Myths Magic and Phantom of the Opera

Venue Sevenoaks School - Pamoja Hall
Musical Director and conductor: Robyn Sevastos.
Date 25/10/2025

Once again Kentish Opera gave us one of their Classical opera evenings, filled with beautiful opera aria's by the soloists Stephen Anthony Brown, Stefanie Kemball-Read, Angharad Lyddon, Lexie Wisniewska, and Giles Davies. Backed up by Kentish Opera chorus of 30 strong., Giving us such a wonderful sound. Particularly in Lloyd Webbers' Masquerade 'from Phantom of the Opera. Carol Stevenson deserved her bow at the end for her choice of costumes for the soloists ..gorgeous.

Robyn Sevastos kept us up to date with her resumes of what we about to hear, she was backed up by a six piece orchestra being Andy Laing, Susan Skone James, Deborah Kemp, Helen McDonald, Tracey Renwick, Rob Ferguson, and David Coronel. Robyn conducted the evening to Kentish operas high standard in Opera in our area.

The Pamoja Hall is perfect for this type of concert, it's a pity it wasn't full, either the football or Strictly keep guests away. Kentish Opera well deserved a fuller house. Such a well-balanced programme, thank you Kentish Opera for inviting my guest and I. Good luck with "Orpheus in the Underworld in April.
