Kentish Opera was delighted to team up with The Bromley Philharmonic Choir for a special performance of Verdi's Requiem. It was conducted by Robyn Sevastos with orchestra. The combined chorus was in the region of 100 voices, and sounded magnificent.

The four soloists were Helen Bailey, Gaynor Keeble, John Findon and Mark Saberton. Helen recent played Santuzza in our Spring production of Cavalleria Rusticana, Gaynor last sang with KO in Samson and Delilah and before that in Aida. Mark last performed with us as a memorable Amonasro in our 2013 production of Aida.

The Requiem was be performed in St George's Church, Beckenham, as part of their annual festival.

The music of the Verdi's Requiem combines religious grandeur with operatic drama and passion, and contains equally exquisite writing for both chorus and soloists. It is notable for its emotional depth and variety shown, for example, in the terror of the 'Dies Irae', the dignity of the sorrowful 'Lacrimosa', the anxious pleading of the 'Libera me' and the spirited 'Sanctus'.
