Our mission: launching careers and bringing opera to a wider audience

For over 60 years, Kentish Opera has presented fully-staged operas across Kent, providing an opportunity to hear grand opera sung by professionals outside the central London area.

We are proud to have a history which has given new talent a chance to develop by performing opera's greatest roles, as well as making opera accessible to audiences through staging productions in non-traditional locations and at affordable prices.

1

  Getting opera 'out there'

Opera is often an expensive experience which can keep it restricted to an audience who are already familiar with the repertoire. We believe opera does not have to be something that costs a fortune to go and watch at one or two central London venues.

2

  Providing opportunities

There is a wealth of performing talent out there and we provide opportunities for new singers to get to grips with some of opera's greatest roles.

3

  Fully staged

There are many companies out there who put on fantastic, pared-down opera, bringing it to venues where it could otherwise not be staged. But we believe there is nothing like the full experience, which is why our productions are always lavishly costumed and staged!

4

  A broad range

Opera is a fantastically dramatic art form and we love being able to provide people with the opportunities to see things they otherwise might not. So we stage plenty of classics but we also go out on a limb now and then...
